At the end of September I received a call from Spencer Lueders ?- he stated that the 24 Hours of Booty would like to take me and Jen to Austin for LiveStrong‘s?Ride for the Roses in order to share our story with LiveStrong. ?We received the Yellow Jersey treatment for the entire weekend and met some amazing people. ?There were plenty of survivors, caregivers – some people riding in honor of survivors and too many riding in memory of those who lost their?battle?with cancer. ?The most amazing part of the experience was that nobody talked about their day job – the weekend was about relationships. ?It didn’t matter if you had raised 100,000 dollars to LiveStrong [by yourself] or that you just strongly disliked cancer. ?Below is the team photo of the Yellow Jersey group [many thanks to 24 Hours of Booty for the invite].
I had the honor of going on a private ride with Lance, Levi and the rest of Team Radio Shack and it was one of the most surreal experiences of my life. ?There were thirty of us on the 6 mile ride so your time with Lance was limited – a simple hello and a quick chat was all that I had but the ride opened up a series of other doors that provided an inspiration that I hope to pass on to all of you. ?That being said, a Saturday ride and conversation with Levi [see below] was pretty awesome – he is an incredibly humble man and very gracious with his time.
And of course we also had this guy tag along as well…. good times were had by all.
